Former Australian Skipper, Ricky Pointing was pleased with the changes happening by the Cricket Australia management. Pointing, who has been asking for the captain and coach should be given an authority of selecting players has finally resulted in a good note.

36-year-old, Pointing was happy with things going accordingly as current captain, Michael Clarke has got an opportunity to speak in selection matters and was confident that things will head to a positive direction from now onwards.

Middle order batsmen have also said that, I think it’s terrific. I think it’s the way the game should have gone a long, long time ago. I think the way things have turned out at the moment is what (former coach) John Buchanan was asking for 10 years ago. It’s a much more professional approach.

The veteran further went onto say, I think it’s a really good decision to go that way to make the captain and the coach both selectors. We’ve got quality people in and around the team and I think, even already now, we’re starting to see just a slightly different feel and a few different results as a result of that.

Ponting has been the most experienced player in the Australian squad and helping the young Australian players in the squad.

Ricky Ponting has scored just 636 runs in the previous 13-test hitting and in his recent tests against South Africa; he scored a fighting knock of 62 runs in Johannesburg to help Aussies in level the series with 1-1.

Ricky Pointing will be hoping to get back into form for the up-coming series against New Zealand, which is scheduled to being form December, 1, 2011.

Former Australian fast bowler, Nathan Bracken has taken Cricket Australia to court over his persistent injury troubles, which enforced him to retire in 2010.

The left-armer is seeking reimbursement, somewhere in the expanse of $1million, claiming that his former employers were inattentive in handling his career-threatening knee injury. The player, who needed three operations in order to recover from a troublesome knee problem declared that the team doctors failed to fully guide him in his difficult period and will now seek the court justice to claim damages. The damage includes his medical expenses and wages, which rise up to a total of USD one million.

Meanwhile the case has been adjourned for now, giving Cricket Australia added time to produce the necessary documents, including the player medical files. The proceedings are set to continue on the next court date, which is November 30.

Bracken’s manager, Rob Horton hopes that the case can swiftly move forward as soon as the documents related to the player’s medical injuries are presented in the court.

“We just want to get hold of Nathan’s medical records and once we get those in we can move forward,” he said after the hearing.

The player retired in January of 2010, after losing his central contract. Throughout his career, the 34-year-old has been troubled by a series of serious injuries. He made his ODI debut for the national team in 2001 and went onto represent the country in over 100 matches, taking 174 wickets at 24.36.
