The master blaster of India, Sachin Tendulkar managed to improve his test batsmen rankings, which he moved up to fourth place from fifth, while ‘The Wall’ Rahul Dravid also moved up one place to ninth from tenth place. Among the Indian bowlers, Zaheer Khan moved up to sixth, despite missing the four-match test series against England, due to hamstring injury, on the first day of the opening test of the series.

Four of the England batsmen made it to the top 10 batsmen in ICC test rankings, after they detached team India, from the title of number one test team in the world. They whitewashed India in the test series by winning 4-0. Ian Bell was the most notable batsmen, among England. Now, Bell and Alastair Cook, together share the second place, after Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka, dropped three places to fifth, following his mild scores of 10 and 17 in the first test against Australia in the on going series.

Besides, Bell and Cook, Kevin Petersen and Jonathan Trott are the other batsmen, who made it to the top 10. Also, England has got four batsmen and four bowlers in the top 10 of ICC Test Rankings. On the other hand, Shane Watson and Ryan Harris of Australia, Rangana Herath of Sri Lanka and Pakistan’s Mohammad Hafeez and Misbah-ul-Haq, have achieved their career best rankings in the recent list of ICC Test rankings.

The ICC Test rankings were released, after the end of the first test between Sri Lanka and Australia at Galle and the lone test between Zimbabwe and Pakistan in Bulawayo. However, the player rankings will be updated, after the second test between Sri Lanka and Australia, which would start on Thursday in Pallekele and the Test Championship chart will be updated, following the conclusion of third and final test in Colombo on September 16, 2011.

Australia has placed top in the ICC one day rankings. India grabbed the second place while Sri Lanka is at third position with same points. Followed up by South Africa and England have occupied fourth and fifth places respectively.

Bangladesh moves to eighth place in the ICC one day rankings ahead of World Cup. Bangladesh went to eighth position by pushing down West Indies to ninth position. This is the lowest rank ever that West Indies have placed in ODI rankings.

Bangladesh rise to the eighth position involves two back to back series wins. Recently, Bangladesh won against New Zealand in October and also won against Zimbabwe in December. Mean while West Indies disasters performance in recent series against Sri Lanka, where they lost the series of 2-0.

West Indies cricket is now facing a tough run in one-dayers. West Indies have not won a test series since 2008 August and they haven’t won ODI series from July 2009. West Indies and Bangladesh stays equal in the ratings with 66 points but Bangladesh placed eighth after calculating their ratings in decimal points.
