South Africa release pacer Duanne Olivier from the Test squad ahead of the third Test against New Zealand, starting from March 25 in Hamilton. With Chris Morris also returning home during the course of the Wellington Test, South Africa’s pace department looks a little thin on paper.
Wayne Parnell will be the only fast bowler on the bench while South Africa continue with the same three-pronged pace attack of Kagiso Rabada, Vernon Philander and Morne Morkel.
South Africa could give that combination a tweak, if they wish, as the spin contingent had a recent addition in Dane Piedt.
With the Champions Trophy coming up in June, the strapping, young speedster will have to wait at least until July to add to his maiden Test cap, that came in January 2017 against Sri Lanka in Johannesburg.
