Ricky Ponting and Michael Clarke are attacking the Indian bowlers, despite losing three early wickets in the first innings of the second test at Sydney.
Zaheer Khan has rattled Australia by picking three early wickets. He picked 3 for 25 runs from his 7 overs. He sent David Warner, Shaun Marsh and Cowan to pavilion for just 37 runs on scoreboard, in reply to 191 runs scored by India in their first innings. However, the veteran Ricky Ponting and captain Michael Clarke have steadied the innings, adding 44 runs from 10 overs attacking the Indian pacers particularly Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav.
Ponting is currently playing on 30 runs off 40 balls with four boundaries, while Clarke is on 25 off 36 balls with four boundaries. Clarke has contributed 25 out of 44, while Ponting contributed 19 runs. Ishant and Umesh do not seem to be troubling the batsmen, unlike Zaheer. The left-handed pacer first sent Warner for 8 off 6 balls with one four, after he was caught by Tendulkar. He also got Marsh for duck on the very first ball he faced, before he was caught by Laxman. The third victim was Cowan who was caught plumb in front of the wickets for 16 runs off 28 balls with 2 fours.
Earlier, India was bowled out for 191 runs in 59.3 overs with James Pattinson being the prime bowler who collapsed the Indian innings. He picked four for 43 runs from 14 overs, while Hilfenhaus and Siddle picked three wickets a piece. Dhoni was the highest scorer with 57 runs off 77 balls with 8 fours, while Tendulkar and Sehwag followed him with 41 runs and 30 respectively.
