Dhoni the Indian Captain has backed his batsmen, despite their failure in the both the innings of the first test of the four test series against Australia at MCG. He instead credited the Australian bowlers for pulling a 122-run victory in the opening test.
Dhoni on being asked about his batsmen said that, the batsmen are very experienced and need to give credit to Australian bowlers for the way they bowled. They constantly kept the nagging line outside the off-stump, for which they got the Indian batsmen. He also lauded the lower order of Australia for their significant contributions in both the innings. He further added that, the bowlers got his team back into the game, but they were short by 50-60 runs in the first innings and the scoring of Oz lower order cost them 50-60 runs less to chase.
However, the Captain cool expressed his optimism for the comeback in the second test that will be played at Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3, 2012. He also said that, India is known for its tentative start and they will be little better in the next test. In fact, Indian bowlers did well to restrict the Oz to 240 runs in the second innings, but they lost the match after they were bundled for just 169 runs.
Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly, who is in Australia as a commentator, expressed his concern about losing five consecutive tests abroad. India lost 4 tests in England and one in Australia now. He insisted that, it is something to be looked into and expressed his belief on the team management about analyzing the wrong things went in the opening test against Australia.
