Shaun Marsh the Australian opener might undergo a surgery on his troublesome back, in order to save his career. He might be ruled out for the opening test against India starting December 26, 2011 due to his back problem, which has been troubling him since the beginning of his career.
The 28-year-old son of former Australian cricketer Geoff Marsh said that, of he does not undergo a surgery, he would not be playing cricket for a longer period. He added that, if he had to go for an operation for his back and if it goes again in next three to four months, then he would probably be done over the IPL. He is ready to do anything, to extend his Test career as long as possible. Also, Alex Kountouris the team physiotherapist said that, Marsh need to be handled with utmost care.
Alex further said that, the left-handed batsman had injured his back for two to three times now and they are consciously trying to minimize the risk. He also insisted that, it does happen in the game and it is tough to control sometimes. However, it has to be managed like anything. He went on saying that, they are putting all their efforts to get back Marsh for the opening Test against India that would be played on Boxing Day.
He shared that, they want him to get him up fit at the right time, as the Boxing Day Test is two weeks away still. It would be great, if he manages to do it by that time or they have to get him fit for the next game. However, they have to follow a process, so that they could minimize the risk not to happen again, when he gets back.
