Thilan Samaraweera has been included in Sri Lanka revised Test squad for the forthcoming South Africa tour that would start in next month. He was lately added to the squad, who becomes a 17th member of the touring side.
The 35-year-old talented right-handed batsman was included in Sri Lankan squad, after Mahindananda Aluthgamage the Sports minister of Sri Lanka has accepted the request of the selectors. The minister said that, he had a meeting with the national selectors and approved their request. The approval of the minister is necessary for any kind of selections.
Samaraweera has scored 4,683 runs in 68 Tests so far with 12 centuries at an average of 52.61. He was ignored, after the third tests against Australia in Colombo in September.
