Indian Spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin having shown an impressive performance by receiving the Man of the Series award in his very first test-series against, West Indies will be receiving the Dilip Sardesai award.
R Ashwin has been selected for the test series against West Indies, as Harbhajan Singh has been out of form in series at West Indies and England.
25-year-old Chennai player, Ashwin has utilized the very first opportunity by grabbing a five-wicket haul in the very first test and continued his marvelous show with ball to end as the player of the series.
Ashwin in finals test has stunned the crowd with both ball and bat by hitting century in the final test against West Indies, which was held at Mumbai. He has become the third Indian to take a five-wicket haul and score a century in tests.
In the Final test Ashwin took a nine-wickets and scoring his maiden test century has finally deserved to take the man of the match and Man of the Series award on the final day of the third test at Mumbai.
Ashwin was the Man of the Series in his debut series, which India won 2-0, taking 22 wickets at an average of 22.90. He claimed nine wickets on debut in Delhi, won two Man-of-the-Match awards, and also scored 121 runs at an average of 40.33.
Ashwin has been nominated for the Dilip Sardesai award for the best Indian cricketer for the Test series against West Indies, which will be presented on December 10, 2011 in Chennai. The award comprises a trophy and a cheque of Rs. 5 lakhs.
