Rahul Dravid the Indian veteran batsman has been set to receive ‘Polly Umrigar Award’ for India’s best cricketer of 2010-11 season. He will be presented the award, during the BCCI’s annual awards ceremony that will be held on December 10, 2011 in Chennai.
The 38-year-old No.3 batsman also known as ‘The Wall’ has scored 1258 runs from 15 tests with an average of 53 so far this season, with six hundreds during the year, with his recent century coming against West Indies in the second test of the ongoing test series. He has also been the lone successful batsman for India in the disastrous tour of England, where India even lost their No.1 Test status ending a winless tour.
The elegant right-handed batsman stood alone against England and scored three centuries, while the rest of the Indian batsmen failed. The second highest test run scorer will be honored at the ceremony in Chennai with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 5 Lakh. On the other hand, Jhulan Goswami, the Captain of Indian Women’s cricket team will also be honored at the annual awards.
The pacer will be handed over the ‘M.A. Chidambaram Best Woman Cricketer of 2010-11’ award, as she took 21 wickets in eight matches. The former Captain and Coach Ajit Wadekar will receive the Col.C K Naidu Lifetime Achievement.

Dilip Sardesai Award for India’s Best Cricketer in the 2011 Test series in the West Indies: Ishant Sharma (22 wickets at an average of 16.8 from three Tests, inclusive of two 5WIs and one.
