Mitchell Johnson and Shane Watson having played a huge role of the second test against South Africa to level the test series with 1-1 are now struggling with the injuries and are doubtful for the up-coming test series against New Zealand.
Inform Australian players, Shane Watson and Mitchell Johnson have played a huge role in the respective departments in the second test against South Africa with Watson having taken 1-wicket and score an important 88 in the first innings and Johnson has helped with his brilliant knock in the second innings scoring 40-runs to guide Australia to level the two match test series against South Africa.
However, both the players have sustained with injuries, as Johnson has a trouble to the main joint and the all-rounder, Shane Watson has a hamstring complaint.
Alex Kountouris, Australia’s physiotherapist has said that, Mitchell Johnson has an injury to the main joint of his big toe in the left foot and the scans will be reviewed in the next 24 hours and he will also be assessed by medical staff at the WACA on return to Perth.
While, Shane Watson had a scan that has confirmed the extent of the hamstring injury he sustained in the first innings of the second Test. He will be monitored over the coming days to determine his availability for the first Test in Brisbane.
Australia will be hosting the two-match test series against New Zealand, with the first test scheduled to be held form Dec 1-5 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
