Mark Nicholas is the famous cricket commentator of Channel Nine, has been recommended a revamp of Team Australia’s squad playing XI.
Mark Nicholas believes that the current Australian squad, which is mostly composed of senior players, is not skilled of winning big and tough competitions. He is of the view that, the Australian selectors will have to take some tough decisions soon, if they want the side to regain its lost pride and kudos in International cricket.
The famous cricket commentator argues that attaching with the seniors is not a clever decision as there are some talented youngsters in the waiting list. The cricket expert has recommended the replacement of the expert pacer, Mitchell Johnson, with the teenager, Pat Cummins, in the current series.
Talking to the media sources, Nicholas told that, he would like to see some of the young bowlers chosen. He’s not convinced that bonding with Peter Siddle and Mitchell Johnson is essentially the way to go right now.
Mitchell Johnson has been under fire for his rundown performance, since the Aussies’ nerve-shattering overcome to South Africa in the 1st Test series. As the 2nd Test is set to start, Cummins is likely to stage his debut.
Mark Nicholas has also unveils serious concerns over the batting outputs of senior key players including Ricky Ponting, Phil Hughes and Simon Katich. He thinks that it is a mad approach to rely on the aged batsmen and anticipate match-winning performances from them.
However, the Channel Nine commentator has backed the Kangaroos’ captain, Michael Clarke, terming him to be the right player for the job.
