Pakistan’s former Captain and fast bowling great, Wasim Akram, has applauded Indian youth spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin a maiden 9 wickets- haul in his debut Test match against the West Indies visitors in Kotla.
Ashwin has been one of the most causative players for the Indian national roster and amongst the young lot; the 25-year-old off break bowler has not taken much time to earn himself a solid place on the roster.
As for his Test premier against the Caribbean side, Akram praised Ashwin for delivering a strong stint for the Men in Blue and that the spinner comes out with a great variety of bowling assortment.
What I like about Ashwin is that he is not scared of ‘fighting’ the ball, not just in Tests, but in T20s and ODI cricket too. He has got the variety; he has the carom ball, the quicker one and an easy action.
Ashwin is young and his height allows him to get extra bounce. He bowled excellently in the second innings,” the former fast bowling legend added.
However, with Ashwin stepping out to rescue his roster during the second innings, managed to offer the prime damage to the tourists’ line-up securing 6 impressive wickets, adding a total of 9 maiden wickets to his Test premier.
