Adrian Barath the West Indies is back in the squad, to play in the forthcoming three-test series against India, after recovering from hamstring injury.
The 21-year-old right handed batsman missed the ongoing two-test series against Bangladesh, after suffering from hamstring injury, during the opening one-day against Bangladesh last month in Dhaka. He scored 350 test runs from seven tests, after scoring a century in his Test Debut against Australia in the year 2009. His return to the West Indies means that, Lendl Simmons who has replaced Barath in tests against Bangladesh will fly back home, after the end of the second and final test.
However, Chris Gayle was unable to manage a spot in the squad and shockingly, he did not even get the berth in the 15-man squad, due to his differences with the West Indies Cricket Board. He did not represent West Indies, since the ICC World Cup earlier this year. He was demanded by WICB (West Indies Cricket Board) last month, to take back his criticisms against Coach Ottis Gibson and the officials in a radio interview, if at all he wished to be part of the West Indies squad and to continue his international career.
During the tour of India tour, West Indies will play the first Test in Delhi from November 1, 2011, followed by second and third tests in Kolkata from November 14, 2011 to November 18, 2011 and in Mumbai from November 22, 2011 to November 26, 2011 respectively. Also, they will play the five one-day internationals after the tests. WICB has announced its Test squad and the ODI squad will be announced later.
