Sachin Tendulkar stays the highest placed Indian batsman at his unmoved fifth place, while injured pacer Zaheer Khan set on to his sixth position in the bowling of the latest ICC Test rankings chart issued on Sunday, October 23.
Rahul Dravid has also unmoved at 10th position, was the only other Indian batman in the top-10 chart. Kumar Sangakkara, meanwhile, framed closer to recapture the number one spot in the Rankings for Test batsmen after striking a match saving double century over Pakistan in the first Test at Abu Dhabi, which finished on Saturday, Oct. 22.
Sri Lankan batsman Kumar Sangakkara, whose 211 runs also marked him the man-of-the-match award, has gained 29 ratings points for his outstanding effort and he is now just 31 points away from recovering the number one spot, which is currently held by South Africa’s star-player Jacques Kallis.
Sangakkara had rushed to the top of the batting chart in Dec. 2007, had now lost the desirable place earlier this year to Kallis and Tendulkar after the two batsmen stroked sparkling centuries in the drawn Test in Cape Town, South Africa.
The biggest mover in the batting chart is the Pakistan opener Taufeeq Umar, who has gained 17 spot after his heroic 236 runs, which came off 496 balls. The 30-year-old from Lahore is now in 46th place.
Also heading in the right track are Azhar Ali in 33rd, Angelo Mathews in 37th, Prasanna Jayawardena in 48th, Mohammad Hafeez in 60th and Asad Shafiq in 90th place.
