The Indian squad has been picked-up today for next month’s first two One-Day Internationals against the visiting England team at Chennai on September 29th, 2011, according to Cricket Board sources.
India’s one day series squad for England tour will miss five of their main players, who helped them triumph the world cup just five months ago that includes, Zaheer Khan who was leading wicket taker in the tournament, Yuvraj Singh who was man of the match, Harbhajan Singh and Virender Sehwag besides Gautam Gambhir and Ishant Sharma.
Yuvraj Singh was struck on arm in second innings of second test, while Zaheer Khan failed to recover from his hamstring strain injury; he sustained on first day of first test series. Harbhajan Singh is suffering from mysterious injury of stomach ache.
MS Dhoni will skipper the team with Parthiv Patel, as first choice openers although Mumbai opener Ajinkya Rahane has also been added.
Selectors have put Parthiv Patel, as the back-up wicket keeper, as he was during West Indies tour also, even though Wridhiman Saha was cooling his heals during tests series. In the Sixteen member squad selected, fast bowlers galore with Varun Aaron and Umesh Yadav being only spinners. Sachin Tendulkar was ruled out, while Harbhajan is injured.
