Australian ace-bowler Ryan Harris has unveiled he has contemplated retiring from Test cricket matches after last summer’s Ashes series.
Harris, the 31-year-old only made his appearance over New Zealand in March last season but, a chronic knee problem made him feeling, he would be incapable to physically manage with the demands of Test cricket beyond the Ashes.
But Harris has set to miss-out on the third and final Test over Sri Lanka due to a minor hamstring strain, stating he is learnt to cope his knee problem and feels he can still play a major character for Australia squad.
According to the sources, the rest of his body to him feels good, he had a good pre-season in the gym, and he got his legs probably strong as he ever had them, the rest of him felt well. Harris admits. He wants to play every Test match he can. He came over here to play three Test matches; they probably had a thing in the back of their mind that maybe three nonstop was going to be tough for him, maybe two.
Every tour he go on, if it is a three or five-match tour, he is aiming to play five matches. Harris’ optimism is good news for Australian team, with the burly right-arm fast rising in his short Test career to become the country’s major strike bowler.
In seven Tests, Harris has taken Thirty-One wickets with a world class hits rate of a wicket every 43 deliveries. Selectors will be hoping that, he can defeat his hamstring problem hastily with another tour of South Africa coming up before a big summer at home where India are visiting Australia.
