England middle-order batsman, Ravi Bopara feels a perfect opportunity for him to play a permanent allege in the England squad now following the absence of Eoin Morgan and Kevin Pietersen.
While Kevin Pietersen was rested by the managing board following a hectic summer, Morgan was ruled-out of the One Day series due to a shoulder injury, which has distressed the batsman for over a season. This has twisted an opening in the batting squad and with a number of brilliant key-players at the Poms’ disposal, Bopara finds himself in the race for a permanent mark on the squad.
Bopara said, it is a great chance to make it into the first XI line-up and then perform and cement a place in the team. It is a great chance, with guys resting and a few minor injuries about. There is a great chance to strengthen my place, and take it game by game,” he added.
The player also expressed his condolences for Eoin Morgan, who has been a great asset for the national squad over the past, possessing the normal ability of winning matches on his own, with a wide range of shots.
However, Ravi Bopara also feels that the time is right to step-up and grab the opportunity with open arms. Selectors have shown their belief in the 26-year-old, who has performed on and off for England as a strong all-rounder.
With his all-round skills, Bopara can live up to the billing but would need to go step by step to boom at the top level. His average of 34 runs in the longer format of the cricket, along with 28 runs in the 50-over format, does not really justify the talent of the player.
In the ongoing series over India team, the player has shown hints of his talent with an unbeaten 31 runs in the T20 fixture, next by a vital 24-run knock at the Rose Bowl.
