Australian batsman Shaun Marsh is likely to make his Test debut for Australia in the second Test against Sri Lanka, replacing former skipper Ricky Ponting, who has went home for the birth of his second child.Shaun Marsh (28-year-old) has played 35 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and has a well 37-run average in first-class cricket. He was familiar to playing at the top of the batting order, should fill Ricky’s No.3 gap, meaning the squad would not have to amend a batting order that performed strongly in the first Test match.

Australia triumph that first Test series by 125 runs in the southern city of Galle, and that put Sri Lanka in a must-win situation in the three-match series, if it is to mark only its second-ever series victory against Australia.Apart from Marsh’s adding, the visitors will keep the same lineup that won the first Test series. The pitch at Pallekele International Stadium will be new to both teams, with the Test starting Thursday being just the second on the soil, while the first saying little play due to rainfall.
