Alec Stewart, the former wicket keeper hints that, England could clean sweep the ongoing ODI series against India and would not surprise him at all.
The former England Captain said that, India might have started the series as favorites, but he would not be surprised, if England manages to clean sweep in all the formats of the game and end the season, adding with yet another trophy to their growing collection. India was in commandable position, in the first ODI of the five-ODI series, with England chasing the target of 275 and was staggering with 27 for 2 with less than 10 overs, before showers were poured and the match was called-off.
Alec suggested that, England has the potential, to rise again from such situations. He also added that, England would like to show that, they are making a good progress in 50-over format also, after they thrashes India by 4-0 in test and the lone T20 match. He also urged England to play their best against the World Cup champions, in order to scribe a clean sweep. However, he also said that, India would test the England side, in the ongoing series, as England is heading towards the supremacy of world cricket.
Stewart also insisted that, England has never won a World Cup and they would be desperate to beak the jinx in 2015 World Cup, which would be host by Australia and New Zealand. He also went on saying that, Alastair Cook is aware that, they need to perform consistently in One Day Internationals and learn, what it tales to win all the conditions, if his side wanted to be recognized along with the great West Indian and Australian teams.
