The Indian opener, Gautam Gambhir may allegedly miss the upcoming ODI series against England, due to his head injury.
It seems that, India could have another big blow, if their left arm opener, Gautam Gambhir misses the One-Day internationals against England, which have been scheduled to start next month. Considering his recovery speed in last 10 days, Gambhir might probably be packing his luggage to fly back home. India would miss another star player, if it happens.
If Gambhir gets ruled out of the upcoming One-Day internationals against England, he would be the next player joining the already left players like Zaheer Khan, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Virender Sehwag, who joined the team and left back home, without any significant contributions for the team.
Gautam got his head injury, while running backwards, attempting for a catch of Kevin Petersen at mid-on, on the second day of the fourth and final test at Oval on August 19, 2011. However, he lost his balance and fell down on his head and suffered from a blurry vision. He also did not open in both the innings of the Oval test and came down the lower order.
Since then, he visited doctors regularly and got MRI scans, which have shown clear results. But, still his condition did not improve. This looks like the similar one of Dale Steyn of South Africa, who was also running backwards to take a catch of Mike Hussey and fell on his head, in the semi-finals of Champions League, between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. His MRI scans showed very little, but it took 3-4 weeks for his recovery.
