The uncertainty of Gautam Gambhir’s availability is over, as he could be fit for the One-Day internationals against England next month.
The left-hand Indian opener, Gautam Gambhir went for MRI scan, after he injured his head, attempting a catch during the final test in Oval against England. However, he has cleared the MRI test and is believed to be fit to play for the five ODIs against England, which has been scheduled to start next month.
Shivlal Yadav, the team manager of India said that, there is nothing in MRI scan and he is fit for the upcoming ODI series. But, he was suggested to take some rest, which will take care of everything in recovering from his head injury and as a result, he would miss the practice match against Sussex, the county team of England. He is critical for India as an opener, as Sehwag has completely been ruled out of the ODI series.
On the other hand, the players of team India went through some fielding drills. Yadav said that, team India would be back with the same intensity, which was the character they showed during the world cup. Duncan Fletcher, the Indian coach observes the preparations from behind the net, along with Eric Simmons, the fielding coach.
The current series has been horrible for Gambhir, as he was painful, after being hit on his right elbow, while fielding at short leg during the first test at Lord’s. He also missed the second test at Trent Bridge and played the third test at Edgbaston scoring 38 and 14 respectively in two innings.
