ndia has confirmed that Virender Sehwag and Ishant Sharma will fly home with injuries, as Gautam Gambhir is also ready for a comeback.
Sehwag came in for the third Test at Edgbaston as injury replacement for Yuvraj Singh, but did not play in the fourth match because of the re-aggravation of a long-term shoulder problem. Ishant did play at the Oval, but was playing through a left-ankle injury that now requires treatment back home.
Apparently, Sehwag’s in recent times has operated his right shoulder is far from cured but that is not the only physical issue plague him on this tour. He is also said to have hearing problems with his left ear for which he is enchanting medicines and steroids.
Sehwag and Sharma will be replaced by two batsman Ajinkya Rahane and fast bowler Varun Aaron, in the touring squad for England.
Ishant Sharma has had a busy Test series after taking over as India’s spearhead in the absence of Zaheer Khan following the first day at Lord’s. A board release said he responded well to treatment on his pain in his left ankle.
Opener Gautam Gambhir, who was considered doubtful for the one-dayers after suffering a mild concussion while fielding in the Oval Test on Saturday, was declared fit.
