The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) on Tuesday shifted the forthcoming Nokia Champions League T20 tournament matches scheduled to be held at Kolkata have been moved to Bangalore.
On account of the biggest festival of the city, Durga Puja celebrations which begin on October 2, the BCCI has shifted the venue of two matches following a request from the city police.
The two matches, which were earlier supposed to be held at the Eden Gardens on October 1, have been shifted to Bengaluru on the following day, the BCCI statement said.
The tournament will be take place in two phases, with the qualifiers from Sep 19 – 21 and the main tournament from Sep 23 – Oct 8.
The tournament starts with the first qualifying match between Trinidad and Tobago (West Indies) and a team from Sri Lanka, which is yet to be decided, on September 19 in Hyderabad.
Four Indian cities will co-host the CLT20 champion event this season. While the qualifiers will be played at Hyderabad, the main tournament will be held at Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore.
Champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), runners-up Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and third-placed Mumbai Indians (MI) are the three Indians sides from IPL-4 to get direct entry into NOKIA CLT20, 2011.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who finished fourth in IPL-4, will have to play the six-team qualifiers for a place in the main tournament.
