Australian pace bowler, Mitchell Johnson relishes the slow wickets, after he guided his team to the victory in the first ODI against Sri Lanka.
The left arm fast bowler of Australia, who took six wickets against Sri Lanka in the first ODI during their tour of Australia, expressed his pleasure of being successful on slow wickets and conditions. It was his 100th One Day international of his career.
Mitchell Johnson took 6 wickets conceding just 31 runs in his allotted overs, which lead his team to a comfortable victory in the first ODI against Sri Lanka. Australia won by 7 wickets, after they chased the paltry target of 191 with more than 11 overs left.
The 29-year-old pacer said that, it will always be challenging to bowl in the slow wicketing conditions, which is always hot and the wickets will be flat and slow. He added that, he felt calm and was also excited, as it was his 100th ODI.
The figures of 6-31 of Johnson, was the fourth best by an Australian, after Glenn McGrath’s 7-15, Andy Bichel’s 7-20 and Gary Gilmour’s 6-14 in 50 over limited version. He said that, it was exciting to be ranked along with them.
Johnson took his first wicket in his very first over, after he removed Mahela Jayawardene, prior to Kumar Sangakkara was caught in the covers off a slow delivery. He also took the wicket of Angelo Matthews and Jeevan Mendis in his seven-over opening spell.
