Indian master batsman Sachin Tendulkar could possibly convince BCCI about the Hawk-eye technology in DRS.
A halt antagonist of the Hawk-eye technology, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) could be convinced to allow its usage in the Decision Review System by batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, who has been convinced about its utility by the advance inventor.
Hawk-Eye inventor Paul Hawkins met Tendulkar before the start of India’s ongoing Test series against England and alleged to have removed all doubt from the batting maestro’s mind about the system.
The problem has been that, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has made decisions without knowing the facts. It was clear that, Tendulkar had been told the Hawk-Eye system was manual, requiring an operator.
He was not aware it is automatic and beyond bribery by humans, Hawkins was quoted as saying to the source.
Once we had set the proof straight with him, he left saying he would tell the BCCI and recommend Hawk-Eye was used. I do not think it will take too much time for the BCCI to take action on advice from Tendulkar,” he told.
DRS are being used in the ongoing India vs England test series but without the Hawkeye technology for the lbws, as was insisted by the BCCI.
Sachin Tendulkar, in the past, had made it obvious that he was not against DRS. “I am not against DRS, but I feel it will be more successful with the support of the Snick-o-meter and Hot Spot technology,” he had commented.
