Indian pace man Ishant Sharma has been confirmed fit to play in the third and final Test match against the West Indies in Dominica on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Ishant suffered a freak injury problem and stood away during the only practice session ahead of the decisive Test at Windsor Park, giving rise to speculation that he could not be fit enough to bowl.
That speculation was soon put to rest, when Indian pace bowler sent down deliveries at full speed to Rahul Dravid in the net practice.
Ishant Sharma was hit below his left eye by a leaping Praveen Kumar in a football session on Monday. It left a deep mark around his eye.
Ishant carried a band-aid over his injury throughout the session but there is no worry on him missing out the West Indies final Test.
Meanwhile, it almost looked certain that Virat Kohli and Murali Vijay, two young Indian batsmen who have been failed in the two Tests, would get another chance in the final game.
Subramaniam Badrinath and Parthiv Patel, two alternate options considered in place of Kohli and Vijay by experts, did not even get to bat in the net session, putting an end to all speculation on their inclusion.
Munaf Patel, who has missed the first two Tests against W Indians due to an elbow injury problem, bowled at full tilt at batsmen and is almost certain to replace Abhimanyu Mithun in the playing eleven.
India is expected to go with three seamers and a spinner for the West Indies Test match. India is currently leading with 1-0 points in the three-Test series.
