The BCCI has agreed to the mandatory DRS, with modified technology, that was recommended by ICC Chief Executives Committee.
The ICC chief executives committee has recommended the mandatory usage of DRS, with modified version of technology, during the annual conference on Sunday in Hong Kong. The committee has recommended to the executive board about the DRS mandatory, with modifications.
As per the reports, it was recommended that, the DRS with modified technology comprises only ‘Hot Spot’ and ‘Sound Technology’. The ball tracking technology also called as Hawkeye has been removed from the compulsory list of DRS technologies of ICC.
It is believed that, the ICC board, which would meet on Tuesday, will make the final decision on the recommended proposal. If the new recommendations are approved by the board of ICC, then it will be used in the upcoming bilateral series of India and England. However, the LBW decisions will be left to the on-field umpires, said by Shashank Manohar, the BCCI President.
The BCCI in a statement said that, it has agreed to the modified DRS, which includes Hot Spot and excludes the ball tracking technology and ICC chief executives committee has also agreed to it. It also added that, The BCCI has also agreed to the use of technology, which include infra-red cameras and audio-tracking devices.
Apart from the DRS mandatory, the recommendations also include the tougher sanctions of captains, for the breach of over-rate and restricting the powerplays between 16th and 40th overs of each innings and the fielding restrictions.
