Sachin Tendulkar record-breaking batsman has been crowned as India’s cricketer of the year award for his excellent performances in the 2009-10 BCCI awards function on Tuesday evening in Mumbai.
The 2009-10 BCCI awards function was well attended by present and former luminaries of Indian cricket. The Team India has given pleasure to Indians all over the world by winning the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
MS Dhoni and his squad took center-stage in the BCCI awards function for the year held at the beautiful turf of Taj Land’s End, Bandra. As promised by the BCCI, each and every player of India team was given out a cheque of Rs 2 Crores each, while the entire support staff got a handsome prize of Rs 50 lakhs each.
Sachin Tendulkar, the world’s leading scorer in both ODI’s and Test cricket has won the Polly Umrigar award and the former all-rounder Salim Durani was given the lifetime achievement award.
The master batsman scored 1,064 runs, including one double-century and five hundreds, in 10 Tests during the year in question, October 2009 to September 2010, at an average of 82.
Karnataka paceman Abhimanyu Mithun has won the best bowler award and Manish Pandey has won the best batsman award in domestic cricket at a function held by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in Mumbai.
