Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir has injured his right shoulder and is likely to miss the vital IPL 4 match against Mumbai Indians to be played at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday, May 25th 2011.
However, he is also doubtful for the Indian cricket side’s one-day tour of the West Indies next month. An MRI scan Tuesday put a question mark on his availability for KKR’s IPL 4 eliminator against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede today.
The exact nature of the injury problem is not yet clear. But, the fears were expressed that Knight Riders skipper may have to miss the battle in the Caribbean.
Gambhir was injured during Knight Rider’s last league match against Mumbai at the Eden Gardens. He may require surgery to recover from the injury, rehabilitation or plain rest. It is being learnt that, the injury is alike to that of his opening partner Virender Sehwag’s, who played the World Cup and the IPL 4 regardless of the distress.
The Indian side’s batting, already without Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virender Sehwag will be further depleted.
If Gambhir Gambhir miss-out, It is anticipated that Suresh Raina will lead India in the West Indies during the one-day tour.
