World cup Runners Team Sri Lanka’s new skipper Tillakaratne Dilshan is one of the main players and star of the Indian Premier League has given a statement stating that he will leave the IPL event early, because of the England tour and wants to travel with his team on tour.
As Tillakaratne Dilshan is very interested in joining the Sri Lankan squad to fly with his team to England on May 10 2011, this indicates that he has to abandon his IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore side 3 weeks before the tournament ends.
Well, in the England tour, Sri Lanka are prepared to play 3 tests matches, 5 one-day matches and a Twenty20 international match in the tour.
According to Roshan Abeysinghe the manager of Dilshan stated AFP that Dilshan is keen to travel with the team, to try and create a bond as some of the senior players will be joining the squad a bit late.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka Cricket Team has allowed its Indian Premier League players to stay on in India until May 18, rowing back on a request for them to return by May 5 to get ready for the England tour.
As Sri Lanka has been defeated by India Team in the World Cup final match in Mumbai earlier this month, Dilshan took over as skipper last week after Kumar Sangakkara quit.
Dilshan has scored 105 runs from 5 games for Bangalore, who have won 2 of their 6 matches in the money-spinning Twenty20 tournament so far.
