Andy Flower, England cricket team coach name is among the names of BCCI shortlisted candidates of Team India’s next coach. As per leading news portal Andy Flower and Duncan Fletcher were among the shortlisted names of BCCI.
Indian coach job was kept vacant after Gary Kristen left the team following India’s World Cup win. England Board was offering Andy Flower for extend term for three more years. Andy Flower was very successful player and coach as well; he led England team towards Ashes Test series in Australia and ICC World Twenty 20.
England Cricket Board (ECB) is keen to hold on with Andy Flower as their coach. England and Wales Cricket board is offering new three-year extension of contract. ECB is trying hard to cut off any moves for their highly rated coach to India.
Andy flower has played a crucial role in rating Ashes trophy in Australia; he has been integral part of England team. England is keen to retain Andy Flower, after they lost former bowling coach Troy Cooley to the Australian team.
Andy Flower will meet Hugh Morris, the managing director of the England team, by the end of this month to discuss his long-term plans with England. Andy Flower is been in holiday after England was out of the ICC World Cup 2011 in quarter-finals. After winning Ashes Series, Andy Flower had a word that, he might not coach the England team for more than few months.
Similar to ECB eight of the English players are in favor to retain Andy Flower as their coach. Matt Prior said that he has been fantastic; he is very honest person and very good human being. Andy Flower is more focused on winning games and no place for politics. Andy backs his players as per their ability and nothing else matters to him, expect winning games. Any decision Andy makes is because to give England the best chance of winning.
India will be touring West Indies in early June, they will be going with interim coach and they were expected to take full time coach ahead of England tour scheduled in mid-July.
