Ricky Ponting Quits from Captaincy

Ricky Pointing is no longer will be called as Australia’s Captain as he quitted from the job as captain. Ponting resigned to his Test and ODI captaincy and will be available as a player; he announced his decision of resigning at SCG on Tuesday.

Ricky Ponting said that the decision was followed by the defeat of Australia in the quarter finals of ICC World Cup 2011. Ponting backed up Michael Clarke to take on the leadership duties; he added that no one tapped me to go on and so he decided to put an end. His captaincy came under lot of criticism when they lost Ashes Test series in their home ground.

Ponting stated that he had resigned as captain of Australian team from both Test and one day internationals. He will be continued to play for team and will be part of the Australian team. Ponting said that he had put all his efforts to build the team and its occasion for new skipper to implement his strategy to discover the accurate path to the Australian team. Ponting feels that his decision would help him to build his own way and heritage.

Ricky Ponting said that he will be starting his new career and he is very excited about new role in the team. Ponting said that he will offer his full support to the new captain and will perform at his best and help the team in winning causes. Ponting wants to be part of Australia next month tour of Bangladesh, the team will be announced on Wednesday. Michael Clarke is expected to take over the captaincy of Australian Cricket team; Clarke will be facing tougher assignment with tours of Sri Lanka and South Africa.

Australia has entered the World Cup tournament as defending champions, Aussie aimed for fourth one in a row. Ponting has taken crucial decision after the unsuccessful tour of World Cup, he decided to give up captaincy and ready to bat down the order if team requires him to do the job. Ponting hoping to regain his form back with his century in last game.

Ricky Ponting is the successful captain; he had taken the captaincy from Steve Waugh. He led Australia in 77 Tests where they won 48 wins with 16 losses and 13 draws. His ODI career as captain is 228 ODIs with 164 wins and 50 losses. Ricky Ponting is the winning captain of two World Cups in 2003 and 2007.
