Indian captain MS Dhoni stated that Team India is ready for the rivals Pakistan battle in semi finals of ICC World Cup 2011. India won their quarters match against Australia in high pressure game with five wickets.
Australia imposed a total of 260 runs includes Ricky Ponting (104), his 30th ODI century. India needed 261 runs to win the game and move in to the semis; they looked in trouble when Dhoni was dismissed in 38th over with still 70 more runs to get. The pair of Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina ensured the win with still 14 balls remaining.
Dhoni said at the match ceremony they needed 70 odd runs and last batting pair at the crease; it means they need to play their complete 50 overs with Yuvraj or Raina till the end. Playing against Australia, four time world champions in quarter final game is a high pressure one for them. They want to control their nerves and handle pressure to pull a win.
Coming to picking up Raina instead of Yusuf Pathan, as he more technically sound than Yusuf. Dhoni added that Yusuf can be dangerous, but Yusuf coming late down the order and going for plenty in his bowling. Raina can also chip with his bowling, great fielder and more importantly technically good.
India advancing in the tournament in to last four, India will now face their old rivals Pakistan in semi finals on 30th March, 2011 at Mohali. Dhoni said that World Cup hosted by sub continental nations and India vs Pakistan in semis, nothing can better. India will be feeling more pressure, but it will be from their fans. The pressures will same when playing in World Cup knockout stages irrespective of oppositions. India was only two steps away from crowning World Championship.
Stay tuned for the highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan updates.
