Stuart Broad, England’s fast bowler has been ruled out of World Cup due to side strain. England had the final smile over South Africa in their last clash by winning with six runs. Stuart Broad has picked injury during this match and will miss the rest of the tournament.
ECB has yet to confirm the replacement for the injured Stuart Broad, although Chris Tremlett is with side as a stand by bowler will be preferred. ECB has yet to appeal for ICC technical committee and get the approval. Stuart Broad will leave from Chittagong to home; he will join his teammate Kevin Pietersen. Broad is due to play for Kings XI Punjab in the IPL 4 under Adam Gilchrist.
ECB chief medical officer Nick Peirce stated that it is a new strain for Stuart Broad, who earlier suffered an abdominal injury during Ashes test series and made his comeback in the World Cup. Broad felt some discomfort in the match against South Africa on his left side. Successive scans have confirmed that it is a significant side strain where the muscle attach to the ribs. The recovery and treatment period will be determined by the UK doctors.
England had suffered two injury blows in 24 hours as they missed out two key players like Kevin Pietersen and Stuart Broad. Stuart Broad has played a crucial role in the England’s victory over South Africa. England will suffer a huge loss by the injury blows.
