England and South Africa went face to face in the Sunday’s World Cup clash at Chepauk stadium, Chennai. They had a disaster defeat against Ireland; England had to win this game if their World Cup dreams have to stay alive.
England after winning the toss decided to bat first, they had an early set back by losing both their openers early. Jonathan Trott (52) and Ravi Bopara (60) were the only batsmen to fight against the lethal bowling attack of South African’s. South Africa has begun their chase perfectly but suddenly lost their way as wickets were faltered in quick time. James Anderson has started the downfall of South Africa and the terms were dictated by Stuart Broad by wrapping up the tail.
Andrew Strauss said that their team showed a great fighting spirit as they will face low profile teams of Bangladesh and West Indies in the upcoming group matches. They have four days of time to reunite and to rethink their strategies. Ravi Bopara was adjudged man of the match for his splendid efforts in the batting. England captain Andrew Strauss admitted that chasing on this is difficult and it is easy for fast bowlers to bowl in the second innings.
