England star batsmen Kevin Pietersen ruled out of ICC World Cup 2011, he will make his way back to home in next 24 hours for hernia operation.
England Cricket Board has made an appeal to ICC for replacement of injured Kevin Pietersen. Eoin Morgan is named as the replacement; he was in the original 15 member World Cup squad, but missed out due to finger injury. Ravi Bopara replaced Eoin Morgan.
Kevin Pietersen was promoted to open the innings with Andrew Strauss in the World Cup. England pulls a dramatic win over South Africa in Group B match played at Chennai on Sunday. Kevin Pietersen was dismissed without scoring a run; he had played 27 ODI’s without scoring a century. Pietersen injury has impact on his performance in the match during bowling.
Pietersen injury was spotted after the England disaster loss to Australia with 6-1, undergoing surgery will cost his place in playing IPL for Deccan Chargers in the fourth edition. The England Cricket board is keen to rest the star batsmen ahead of home series against India and Sri Lanka.
Eoin Morgan is a middle order batsman, Kevin Pietersen opening slot with skipper Andrew Strauss is vacant and they have to find new opening pair. Either Jonathan Trott or Ian Bell will be promoted to start the proceedings for England.
