India and England have played a thrilling match in the Group B of ICC World Cup 2011 on 27 February at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. It was a high scoring game as it yielded 676 runs; it was a stunning batting performance from both sides.
England skipper, Andrew Strauss has led the England with 158 runs in reply to India’s total. England was going along nicely ahead of required run rate all the time. England is looking so cool and comfortable to win the game until the introduction of Zaheer Kahn in the 43 over. Zaheer dismissed both Ian Bell and Andrew Strauss in two balls as it turned match in favor of Indians. Paul Collingwood was sent back in the next over of Zaheer and Matt Prior was removed by Harbhajan Singh.
Indian bowlers have to blame themselves for giving the match away after putting all the efforts to win the match. The England bowlers not only shared the wickets but also hit a sixes which helped to tie the match.
India won the toss and chooses to bat first. Sachin is the star in the batting order of India, as he scored 47 ODI centuries and overall 98 international centuries. Sachin Tendulkar led the Indian innings from the front with his century along with Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh half centuries. India was cursing along and they were looked to score 350 runs but England bowlers have done a great job in bowling out India.
Indian batsmen lost their way in quick sessions as they lost Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni in two balls. They also lost back to back wickets of hard hitting Yusuf Pathan and talented Virat Kholi in the final overs. Tim Bresnan is on hat trick by picking up Yusuf and Kholi.
India and England will share a point each in the points table. India is still on the top of the points table with three points and maintains run rate of +0.870.
