Coming Friday, Mirpur after staging a rampant Indian performance against its home team, is all set for a Bangladesh Vs Ireland clash as a 9th ICC World Cup 2011 ODI.
Bangladesh hoping to clinch a win to carry a good value in the tournament while Ireland looking forward to come up with the same performance it showed in the last world cup against Pakistan. For Ireland it’s a World Cup opener on Friday, the team which plucked out once a world cup winner Pakistan.
Pitch Report:
The first match between Bangladesh and India has seen Sher-e-Bangla stadium to propel more runs during first innings though it relatively slowed down as the pitch getting under the pressure of deliveries. For the Friday’s match too it may show the same results of slowness which could really cause a threat to spinner less Ireland bowling squad though they are coming with some medium pace bowlers to put forth a controlling attack.
Bangladesh:
On the batting side Bangladesh relatively hovered well through Indians bowling obstacles during first match. But Kayes is more prone to quick wicket than Tamim who is strong enough to give a good stand between the wickets however he faced 136 balls to clinch 76 runs. And the rest is all depends on Siddique who gave120 runs stand for second wicket would be a good wicket to watch out for and Captain Shakib Al Hasan is to give power for middle order which could be followed by Rahim and Raquibul Hasan.
To the matter of fact, none of the bowling squad did well in the first match against India where it almost looked like the team drowned if the latter showcased batting not considered. Every one just rolled over 6 runs on an average throughout their spells. At least against Ireland the bowlers are expected to spew some good deliveries to control opponents.
Ireland:
For the Europeans’ side it’s the opening match in world cup for which they need to showcase some good stance between the wickets. To do so, Stirling and O’Brien will arrange their pads as opening squad of course, Stirling went for duck during warm ups. But, the third and fourth downs Botha and Cusack are expected to give some good stand between the wickets just after opening session as they both did well in warm-ups, all rounder Andrew white too a wicket for considerations.
On bowling side, Johnston as a second bowler could revel the Irish side as he controlled the Zimbabweans for just 9 in 5 over’s in the warm ups and Rankin may add his value in this game. Alex Cusack too looks steady in controlling the opponents batting.
Our Predictions:
Bangladesh has a fair chance to come with a good performance as they could really come over their mistakes during first match but only if Ireland doesn’t put forth its last world cup’s performance where it ousted the Pakistan in an astonishing way.
