Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium and Kolkata’s Eden Garden’s have been approved by the International Cricket Council. The head of ICC governing body has given clearance for both stadiums to host ICC World Cup games.
International Cricket Council chief executive Haroon Lorgat stated that cricket venues have been ready to host the matches. India and England match has been shifted to Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore from Kolkata’s Eden Gardens. India and England had to play in Eden Gardens on 27th February. Mumbai made excellent ground work in the initial stage of the World Cup. Haroon Lorgat stated that Eden Gardens will host three World Cup matches. Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium will host only two group matches are New Zealand and Canada match on 13th March, Sri Lanka and New Zealand match on 18th March. ICC World Cup 2011 final match will be played in the Mumbai.
Kolkata’s Eden Gardens will host South Africa and Ireland game scheduled on 15th March, Zimbabwe and Kenya match schedule to play on 18th March and Ireland and Netherlands game will play on 20th March. Eden Gardens is one the most prominent stadium in India, stadium hosted 1987 World Cup final.
